Seven Seas Of Rhye - Queen II - Queen - 1974

Fun fact: Because of the complexity of the first album and its slightly unsuccessful result (It was actually successful, but to the band it wasn’t. The critics absolutely loved it and the consumers were mad for it.) Freddie stated, “Everything is going to happen in the first 10 seconds!”

Fun fact 2: Initially, the track was supposed to be only instrumental and was only meant to end Queen (album). It was publicly premiered when the band were suddenly offered to appear on Top of the Pops in 1974 and rushed onto vinyl only 2 days later, February 23, due to its popular demand.

Fun fact 3: The little singing bit at the end of the track is actually a song called, “I Do Like To Be Beside The Seaside”  written in 1907 by John A. Glover-Kind and originally sung by Mark Sheridan who first recorded it in 1909.

Here are the lyrics:

Oh! I do like to be beside the seaside

I do like to be beside the sea!

I do like to stroll upon the Prom, Prom, Prom!

Where the brass bands play:

“Tiddely- om - pom - pom!”

So just let me be beside the seaside

I’ll be beside myself with glee

And there’s lots of girls beside,

I should like to be beside

Beside the seaside!

Beside the sea!
